QuoteWard is operated by ALYAS Solutions in Gatineau, Québec. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to get it back or removed. It covers both homeowners who use QuoteWard and businesses we contact on their behalf.

Who is responsible

The person responsible for the protection of personal information at ALYAS Solutions is Yassine Alahyane, reachable at contact@quoteward.com. Write to that address for any question, request, or complaint about this policy.

What we collect from homeowners

Your name, email address, and optionally your phone number. The address of the property where the work is to be done, including its coordinates, so we can find businesses nearby. Your description of the job, including anything you type in the chat and any photos you upload. Your language preference, so we write to you in English or French.

We do not ask for or store payment information. QuoteWard is free for homeowners and no money moves through it.

What we collect about businesses

Business contact and listing information from public sources: Google's business listings and the business's own website. This includes the business name, address, phone number, website, email address published on that website, public rating and review count.

We also store our own notes about whether a business appears to offer a given service and the areas it says it serves, and a record of the requests we've sent it and how it responded.

This information is about a business, not about an individual, except where a business is run by one person under their own name. Businesses can have themselves removed at any time using the link in any email we've sent, or by writing to us.

Why we use it

To do the thing you asked for: turn your description into a brief, find suitable businesses near you, send them your request, collect their quotes, let you book a time, and ask how it went afterwards.

To operate and improve the service, including checking that the businesses we contact are relevant ones.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else processes it

Microsoft Azure hosts the application and database, in Microsoft's Canada Central region.

Anthropic processes job descriptions and business website text to write the brief, check relevance, and translate between English and French.

Google Places is used to find businesses near an address, and Google Maps to look up addresses you type.

Postmark sends our email.

These providers act on our instructions. Some of them process information outside Québec, including in the United States. We use them because we consider the protection they offer adequate, and we share only what each one needs to do its part.

What we send to businesses

When you send a request, the businesses we contact see your job description, your photos, your first name, and the city and region of the property — not your street address, email, or phone number.

Only when you accept a quote and book a time does the business you chose receive your full address and contact details, because they need them to show up and do the work.

How long we keep it

Requests, quotes, and bookings are kept while your account exists and for as long as we need them for our records. Chat conversations that never became a request are kept briefly and then deleted.

Ask us to delete your information and we will, except where we're required to keep something — and we'll tell you if that applies.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or withdraw your consent to our using it. Write to contact@quoteward.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in, remember whether you chose English or French, and remember that you've entered a beta access code. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page and update the date at the top.
